Becoming an employer or admitted body in the ERPF

    Information for academies

Schools considering conversion to academy status, academy trusts, multi academy trusts and administrating authorities should refer to the document link below:

LGPS - Arrangements for Academies (pdf 416kb)

Academy Trusts are scheduled scheme employers, therefore all non-teaching staff are entitled to membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme. Employees can opt out of the LGPS at any point.

We recommend that the academy contacts the ERPF as early as possible when going through an academy conversion, to determine what responsibilities as an employer you will have. Every LGPS fund is slightly different therefore it is important to discuss conversion with the relevant fund itself.

All queries in respect of Academies within the ERPF should be directed to:

Teresa Eaton-Watts, Assistant Pensions Manager, Teresa.Eaton-Watts@eastriding.gov.uk.

    Information for admitted bodies

Scheme employers considering outsourcing services to a third party provider or providers looking to take on outsourced services should consider the implications and regulatory requirements.

Admissions policy - admitted and resolution bodies (pdf 289kb)

We recommend contacting ERPF at the earliest opportunity to discuss the process of making an application to become an admitted body.

All enquiries should be directed to:

Teresa Eaton-Watts, Assistant Pensions Manager, Teresa.Eaton-Watts@eastriding.gov.uk.

Information for parish and town councils

Parish and town councils are eligible to participate in the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). Recently, there has been a surge of interest, particularly from parish councils who have considered the LGPS for meeting their auto enrolment requirements.

However, there are a number of formalities to go through first and any parish or town councils who wish to pursue an application to join the LGPS should direct their requests to Teresa Eaton-Watts, Assistant Pensions Manager, Teresa.Eaton-Watts@eastriding.gov.uk.
